Here's the scoop for today!!! Another great day!! Now, as I have said before, a great day for mom doesn't look like much to the eye---but it IS great!!
Here's what happened today:
- She continually started to move her LEFT hand, fingers, wrist today!!! First time in 6 weeks!!
She began to do this when Anthony, Sam, Dad and Gina were there. They did 3 rounds of Physical Therapy/ Range of Motion Exercises. They also did the "feely bag" where you take an item and rub it on her arm or leg or face and then identify the texture. She still is more responsive to soft touch as opposed to hard. She mouthed, "OW" again when they massaged her left arm and hand. Sam said she was making some noises from her mouth too. Mom also touched her eyes and nose on her own as well!!
-Dad spoke to a Respiratory Therapist who said her breathing is good.
-When the speech therapist and Dad worked with her, she Wiped her Face 3 times!!! alone!!!
She opened her eyes for 3 minutes straight!!!
THEN...later in the afternoon when I was there, I played the sound track to MOMMA MIA through her IPOD and headphones and she began to move her LEFT foot, toes, ankle so much that I couldn't track the data!!! She moved it more than her right foot!!! She also moved her head very slowly in a sort of figure 8 motion---kinda like Stevie Wonder at the piano!!! She also moved her LEFT hand, fingers and wrist 10 times. When the music began...it's like she started "bopping" to it!! Not exactly, but moved around alot. She was still when I arrived and turned to my voice.
THEN...mom lifted her entire LEFT hand off the pillow about a 1/2 inch or so!!!!!
THEN....mom was crooked in the bed (upper body) and before I could straighten her, SHE STRAIGHTENED HERSELF OUT!!! She sat forward a bit, and using her middle back and right arm, straightened herself out!!!
-When Claudia and Dad returned tonight, mom moved as noted above to music and she also raised her hand to her nose, stuck out a finger and scratched her nose--twice!!! Once was like someone shaving their upper lip!!
We continue to thank God for all of you and all your prayers...and for His Healing Touch on our mom... We miss her and love her and are so happy she is slowly returning to us again.
