Some have asked why we are doing what we are doing with mom...and where did we get the ideas? Some of the ideas we found on the internet (coma stimulation plan), other ideas we received from the therapists (coma stimulation plan, physical therapy movements), still others we created on our own (sensory stimulation plan). Claudia and I are special education teachers...Claudia is a behavioral consultant. We just took what we know from our background training and applied it to mom. We both believe in a developmental approach to learning---this means start where the person is functioning now and move forward from there. Mom seems to be at an infant level in ways---so we are starting there.
Also---Mom's left arm (with the edema) is normal again today!!! Her left hand was a little puffy as were her fingers---but much better overall! PTL
