Mom Update, June 11, 2010, Friday

-Mom ran a temp of 103 during the night and into early morning
-They see an infection in her blood but think it is from her IV, so they changed IV around midnight and flushed it out and put in new IV and let it run and cultured it again...if clear, it was the IV--will have results tomorrow morning.
-After high temp of 103.1 early this morning....packed her in ice to bring it down and it was 100.5 all day but rose to 102 by 8:30 when Claudia and I left tonight
-The PEG (stomach feeding tube) procedure was done today and all went well. No more tube feeding through the nose.
-They did another procedural CAT Scan
-They started Occupational and Physical Therapies now and splinted her left arm so that it doesn't cramp into a curled position...while splint is off, we do exercises with her.
-She is still responding to pain on both sides, with right side being the stronger of the 2 sides; but did not respond to commands
-Her eyes stayed closed today...no opening them...while I was disappointed about this, the nurse and respiratory therapist said this is likely due to the antibiotics, infection, her age, the fever, or the seizure medication. They said she had been through a lot in the last 24 hours with both procedures on top of all else.
-Monitoring her on EEG again to see if there is still seizure activity---if not, they want to stop the seizure meds because they can make her sleepy too

Keep praying. xxxooo
