Mom Update, June 22, 2010, Tuesday

Dad and I arrived early at North Shore this morning to find out that mom was planned to be transported, not to floor 5 on the respiratory care unit, but out to the Rehab Center (a bed was open so everyone at both places felt it best to move her). During our 2 hour stay at the hospital this morning, mom moved her right arm and shoulder and opened her eyes a crack 2 or 3 times. Dad and I packed up her room, cleaned her hearing aids (but then decided to bring them to be serviced) and met her later in the afternoon at the Center. She arrived there at the Center at about 4:00 and dad and I saw her at 4:45. By the time we left at 8:00 p.m., she was settled in at her new place. She looked unusually peaceful at the Center and responded to us in new ways numerous times---moved her right leg and foot and toes, right arm and hand and shoulder, and really tried to open her eyes widely for us 3 times in a row (opened a crack only) and persisted in this attempt for a good 3 minutes or so. She repeatedly tried to open her eyes and also looked like she was trying to talk to us. At one point, she opened her eyes slightly and I gave her an "assist" and she looked right at me then, when I told her to "look at dad," she turned and looked at him--but then seemed to cry or look upset briefly when she saw him.

Keep praying and thanks for all the prayers....
This is the day that the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
