This is the 5th day in a row that mom opened her eyes!! Many times when shaken but also 2 times on her own!! One of those times on her own was when my cousin, Barry, told her he was gonna make her some matzah ball soup if she woke up---she opened her eyes widely and looked at him. She also tracked my dad with her eyes as well. She followed the command to "Wipe your chin" and did it independently once or twice. AND---she moved her LEFT ankle several times!!! The left side is her weak side!!! She also mouthed, "OW" again a few times when Claudia was exercising her left hand. We still need to keep on top of the staff to keep her left arm elevated and her feet floating over a pillow with her heels not touching the mattress (to prevent bed sores there). Mom's ipod is ready for use...there's an ipod docking station in the armoire and the ipod nano will be in one of the BINGO boxes in the bottom drawer of the small night table.
I took Aunt Sophie home to New Jersey today...a trip down memory lane for me because she lives across the street from where my grandparents used to live.
