Mom started her day with a visit from 2 of her dearest friends, Flo and Maureen. They reported that, when they sang to her, she looked right at Flo. She also opened her eyes a lot for them as well. They all enjoyed their visit together.
While dad, Anthony, Con, Anthony Michael, Samantha, Terry, JoAnn and I visited with her this afternoon, she opened her eyes many times and kept them open as long as 2 minutes. Along with her typical movements, she also said, "Ow" many times (unfortunately) during physical therapy on her left hand and fingers...and she said, "What" 3 times when dad called her name, and "Yeah" once in response to something dad asked her, and "Yup" when we talked about how she is getting better and better every day!
JoAnn and I went back to visit her tonight and she opened her eyes 2 times during that 1 1/2 (1 minute). Though she moved all the usual parts...she was tired---not worn out per se but she slept a lot and looked very content and peaceful as she did. She showed no response to aromatherapy (sleepy) and was most alert during physical therapy. She listened peacefully and quietly to her IPOD - soundtrack to Gypsy. Her manner today made me think of this scripture verse:
"Be still and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10
