Anthony, Con, Anthony Michael and Sammy visited mom this morning and did her physical therapies (range of motion exercises). Donna and Aunt Peggy came next and did some aromatherapy with her and talking,asking questions (cognitive therapy) and music. Dad joined them in the afternoon. I came to visit around dinner time and only Dad was left there. I did mom's nails and some music, and her physical therapies again. I chatted to her too. Mom moved her left arm alot today and her fingers on that side too!! This is amazing. She also wasn't so swollen with edema on that side either the last few days (new pillow positioning helped there--the physical therapist came in and showed us a new positioning technique earlier in the week). On the down side, it seems that one of the pillows that I made for mom's arms, that keeps them raised appropriately, is missing. The nurses and aides are on the lookout for it...so hopefully it will turn up. Mom moved her mouth alot as though talking but no one could make out the words. She moved both legs and feet and toes. She moved her feet alot while listening to music on her IPOD. When the CNAs came in to move her back to the bed from the chair, Con stayed in the room during the change and reported that mom followed their directions to "hold onto the bed rails" "let go of the bed rails" etc.!!! Dad said that mom opened her eyes alot today and she even looked around the room and at him when he spoke to her when they were alone. He told her where she was and that she was doing well...then he said he asked her if she knew who he was... At one point this evening, mom just looked so much like she was sleeping, and when she stirred, she looked like she might just wake up.....
