I visited mom early this morning before work and got her ready for the day and did her first round of physical therapy for the day. She was sleepy and slept through it all. As I pulled up the blinds, I realized how nice it is for her to have a bed near the window...she can see outside and I was reminded that she hasn't been outside in over 3 months. I dare say this is the longest she has ever been away from her home in her life.
Dad visited with mom next and said that her eyes were closed at first so he began her physical therapy because he had a hunch that she really wasn't sleeping... Sure enough, though she maintained her "eyes closed" state for a while, as dad lifted her leg under her knee to do leg lifts, she began to giggle a bit! Sometimes, when she doesn't want to do something or see someone, she closes her eyes as if asleep! Dad said that she wasn't cooperating with the therapists at one point which was frustrating. She held his hand as he talked to her and they watched TV all afternoon, and slept intermittently (both of them!!). When dad leaves her now, she reaches for his hand...he said it is hard to leave her now that she is awake...especially since she can't really talk well enough to say how she feels.
John visited with mom next. They watched TV together...a baseball game. He talked to her and did her physical therapy... Her eyes were open for their entire visit but she only mumbled a few times and didn't really talk.
Tomorrow is our 3rd Team Meeting with the staff and doctor and building administrator around 10:30 a.m. Please keep us in prayer at that time. Thanks. Love to all.
“Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world." Isaiah 12:4-5
