Hi Everyone,
Dad, Kath and Lenny went upstate until tomorrow and so I am writing the update tonight. Kathy started the morning with mom. She was awake when she arrived. Kathy was happy and smiling a lot. She tried to work on the ipad but mom didn't seem into it although she did do catagories and vegetable programs. Mom loves to look at the vegetables. She brought some simple books with clear pictures on each page. Some books had animal pictures. Mom seems to like to look through books and magazines. Kathy told her to comb her hair and mom picked up the comb and combed her hair. Kathy even directed her where to comb and she followed the direction. Tara the nurse told Kathy that yesterday mom was pressing the call button attached to he bed. Flo, Maureen and Florence (mom's friends) came to visit. Flo was touching mom's feet and mom said, "Leave me alone." She was happy to hear mom say anything. Ava was also there and started to do PT with mmom and mom lifted her right arm and amacked Ava on the hand! Ava told her that she had to do PT and that she was going to be careful. By the time I arrived FLorence, FLo and MAureen were leaving and they shared their story. They said it still was a great visit with mom. Mom was tired and sleepy when I arrived to I took the opportunity to do PT. I sat with mom and watched the food channel. When the staff put her in the bed she woke up. I called her and she said, "What?" I asked her if she wanted to watch MASH and she said no. I placed the lap desk on her lap and placed the pom poms, tweezers and cup on the tray. She played around with the tweezers and then grabbed all the pom poms and placed them in the cup. I took out the wipe off board and she took it off the lap desk and put the desk in the down position to watch TV. I took everything away and we watched Paula Dean. She took the remote and lowered the volume. That is one of mom's favorite cooking shows. When I left I left some of her soft piggies and the remote on the bed in her reach.
I hope whe is awake tomorrow morning!
Peace! Where there is life, there is hope!
