Mom Update, October 16, 2010, Saturday

Hi everyone,

Sorry this didn't go through yesterday, technical difficulties. Mom was sleepy at first yesterday but I woke her up after I did her PT. It has been easier to do her PT while she is sleeping because she fights us now when she is awake. I always tell her I need to do PT and e "Gently Persistent". Once she woke up Terry cam and she and I were able to have mom complete most of her fine motor tasks. Mom was able to do nuts and bolts, clothes pins on the rim of a plastic container and write a line "down". I created a photo based visual schedule for her to choose what tasks she wants to complete. She doesn't understand how to make a choice just yet but we will keep trying. I also made color cards for her. We are not sure if she is color blind right now since colors mean nothing to her. We have tried to have her match colors and she can't. I also had her cutting on a line and a nurse walked in and was in shock that she was able to do this independently! I also created a container with holes the size of the orange pom poms and she was able to place them in the holes. I want to mix things up so she won't get bored.

Overall, in the short time I was with her she was able to do a lot. It was also great to share that time with Terry and be ale to show her what mom can do.

Dad and Kath are back from upstate and Con and Anth and the family enjoyed a great day at the King Tut exhibit in NYC!

Thank you to all for the prayers and kind thoughts!

Where there is life, there is hope!
