Mom had another sleep filled day for the most part. I started her day with her early and stayed with her all day again today...it's been nice being with her all day these last 3 days. She was sound asleep (right through her physical therapy) this morning. She awoke when Anthony and Con and the kids and Lenny arrived at 10:30 and remained awake for an hour before nodding off again until 3:00 when dad arrived. Then she stayed awake until 7:00 p.m. Dad and I left her at 8 and she was sleeping soundly.
Here are the highlights of her day:
When Ant and Con, the kids, Lenny and I were there, she talked to us but sometimes in a mumble and every time in either a low-talking way or by mouthing the words.
When asked, "Are you OK?"
Mom mouthed, "I'm alright, I'm alright"
She told Anthony and Con and the kids, "Good Morning"
I put on the movie, "Forget Paris" and told her and she said, "Forget Paris, very funny"
She said, "Samantha" on request after I modeled her name and said it a few times.
She asked, "Where daddy is?"
When we asked her to open her hand, she did so, 3 or 4 times and also said, "Open"
She made an "L" sound for Lenny
We tried to practice following commands like, "Give me the___" and "Give it to___" and she followed the commands about 3-4 times each one.
She combed my hair, Anthony's hair and Lenny's (and Lenny's mustache!!)
I showed her pictures on the IPAD and asked who the people were.
When I showed her a picture of her, and asked, "Who's that?" She said, "Me" 2 times without prompting
When I showed her a picture of Lenny, Anthony, and Michael G. she said, "Michael" without prompting
She said, "Kathy" when I asked her to.
When she looked at a picture of me, and I asked, "Who's this?" she said, "Me" (we do look alike)
When I showed her a picture of Samantha, she said, "Samantha" on command (repeated it)
At one point, she told me, "You are so fresh!" a few times in a row!!! (For the record, I wasn't being fresh! hahaha I was trying to get her to say words!!)
Later, she told me, "Tell me what to say"
Dad told her to stop touching her trach line and she said, "Why?"
When she saw a picture of keys on the IPAD, she said, "Keys" without prompting.
Con sang "The Sound of Music" and mom laughed and then said, "Sound of Music" at the same time that Con sang the words.
Mom did Flashcards of Vegetables and the Alphabet on the IPAD.
Mom spent about 2 hours listening to music on the ipod on the IPAD with the headphones...she loved it!!! She mouthed a few words at one point, tapped her fingers and feet to the music too. Among other things, she listened to Kenny G and some Jazz music today.
She watched MASH on TV before falling asleep.
"Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." Luke 12:7
