Anthony and Con spent time with mom at the hospital and then I joined them. Just after they left (around 2 p.m.) the EMTs arrived to move mom back to the facility. The doctor saw mom before noon and called Claudia to tell her that mom would be moved today around 2:30. Before mom left the hospital, I said good bye to her roommate (also from the facility—whose room was changed) and I contacted her daughter to say good bye and to ask her to keep in touch. She said she would. We spoke again about forming some sort of support group to advocate for loved ones in the situations our loved ones are in. By 3:00 p.m., mom was back at the facility being greeted by some of the nurses and CNAs as though she were a celebrity. Each nurse or CNA who greeted mom was surprised to see her asleep…out like a light and not really responsive…but each one encouraged me and hugged me and told me that our family would get her right back where she was before and that mom is a strong woman who would recuperate fully. Many said they had been praying for mom. A nurse, CNA and respiratory person took about an hour inspecting mom for bed sores (they said they found a large red area on her buttocks but it is closed not open---please pray this heals). I sat with mom until I left later for dinner (she slept the whole time…in a way that was a deep sleep that she could not be roused from). I put her hearing aids in and turned on the lights and set her up in bed. I stretched out her fingers and hands but sat quietly with her and prayed. I decided to sit in peace and regroup in prayer before resuming the work with mom again tomorrow. Lenny joined me and tried to talk to mom but she just slept. After we left, Claudia came to be with mom. Mom was awake for a while then, so Claudia did the IPAD with mom and did the “All About Me” book. She also stretched mom’s fingers and hands and placed her hands on the 2 balls we bought her (for catching and throwing then) in order to keep her hands and fingers stretched out longer. Claudia prayed with mom and tucked her in and left. Tomorrow, we start again anew. But ultimately, mom is in God’s Almighty Hands…right where I left her months ago. All we do, we do in love…but ultimately, only the Lord can heal and care for mom in the way only He knows is best.
