Mom Update, February 12, 2011, Saturday

I started the day with mom after not seeing her all week. I had a sinus infection and a bad cough. I wore a mask and gloves and mom seemed puzzled at first. I explained I was sick but she still seemed puzzled. Mom was awake and happy. I did her PT range of motion exercises. She had great range of motion. I gave her pop beads to pull apart and she hel them in her hand and fell asleep. When she woke up she held on to the beads and I held her wrists to help her pull them apart. She did well but a few times I had to help her right hand hold onto the bead. I then took the big buttons and spread them out over the tray. I took the container that they go in and said very matter of factly, "Hey mom, can you help me clean this up?" She nodded yes and said "Yeah." She then began to pick up each button and place them in the container. I held her wrist and hand over the container and had to verbally prompot her to let go. She did. I gave her the magna doodle but she didn't really make an attempt to write today. WHen it was time to leave I asked her, "Do you want to watch a TV show or a movie?" Mom said, "Movie." I gave her a choice of Moonstruck and Crossing Delancy. She reached up and took Crossing Delancy. I took that as her making a choice. I moved her wheel chair close to the TV and set her up with the movie. Anthony came next and he said mom was in a great mood but didn't want to do anything. He did her PT and when he was working with her legs she actually pushed against his hand as he worked with her. This was her right leg. Her left leg didn't move independently. They watched Moonstruck together and mom had a good time. Dad and Terry also came to see mom. I am sorry I don't have details but I wasn't able to get in touch with dad before writing the blog tonight. Kathy is upstate visiting a friend.

Peace and be well to all,

Claud
