Claudia began the day with mom and found her sound asleep so she did her physical therapy/ range of motion exercises. She worked mom's left hand really well and put mom's hand over her (Claudia's) hand and then moved mom's hand by moving her own. She stretched mom really well too. She washed her face, put her hearing aids in.... Claudia worked mom's limbs really well too today. She began to straighten the room and when she turned around, guess who was awake?!! Mom's eyes were wide open!! Claudia also worked with mom using the orange scrunchy tube pulling and pushing mom's arms. Mom tried hard to pull back against Claudia. Mom had a lot of concentration and was very intent on pulling her arm away from Claudia but couldn't figure it out so instead of pulling the tube using her arm, mom turned her wrist to do it. Her ingenuity is amazing sometimes. Claudia had to leave by then though. She set up a magazine article on the lap desk for mom to read. It bothered Claudia greatly that mom's hands are mitted and she can't move them on her own. Claudia found out that the CNA we love, during the day, is gone!! They switched her somewhere else. Contrary to popular opinion, it isn't a good thing to rotate the people who work with mom, because they largely don't work well without direction...and it took us so long to train this one.
Anthony saw mom next. Mom was sleeping when he got there and when she woke up, he did her physical therapy/range of motion exercises. They talked and just "chilled." It appeared that mom had eaten a cup of applesauce because there was a container from applesauce with a tiny bit left in it but he didn't see mom eat it.
Dad came next and mom's friend, Maureen. Dad said that mom was awake this afternoon and that mom had a shower this morning and a haircut and set. Mom was alert and mouthed answers to their questions and spoke in short phrases (mouthed the words). At 5:00 p.m., mom was put into bed and fell asleep and remained asleep until 7 p.m. when dad left.
