Claudia began mom’s day with her full physical therapy/range of motion exercises. She said that mom was very alert and very talkative!! Claudia also did mom’s oral motor exercises (masseter exercises and tongue exercises with the oral swabs. Claudia said that mom ate breakfast while she was with her too. Dad said that mom talked to him (mouthed words…) the whole time he was with her.
Our family celebrated Anthony’s 50th birthday today. We reserved the recreation room at the
facility so that we all could be together. Mom, Dad, Anthony, Con, Anthony Michael, Samantha, Terry, Claudia, John, Jean, Ava, Lenny and I, and all the Bonavita family…(John and Con’s sisters and brother)…Rie (John and Con’s sister) and her husband, Phil, and their children, Gina and Michael, Roe (John and Con’s sister) and her hasband, Steve, and their children, Steven and John, and Emil (John and Con’s brother) and his wife, Pat. Mom ate lunch with us---the same food we were eating!! She also sang/mouthed, “Happy Birthday” to Anthony and ate birthday cake!! Banana cake with chocolate icing. Mom also drank some Sprite soda—thickened of course. We all talked and laughed and told stories. It was great to be all together. Terry, Lenny, Sammy and I went back to mom’s room and “chilled” as Sammy says. We watched Jean’s movie (which is soon to be in the Soho Film Festival!!), “Just Like Joe.” When Sam came in the room, mom had her eyes closed, resting, and when she heard Sam’s voice she said out loud, “Oh, is that Samantha?” She was very alert and talkative (mouthing sentences, words…). It was a great day and everyone couldn’t believe how well mom is doing. It was a great day!
