Hi everyone,
Sorry I didn't write this last night. Mom had a sleepy morning. I started the day with her and Donna, Tom and Aunt Peggy came to see her. They talked to her and held her hand but she was sleeping the whole time. They left and mom still slept. Con texted me to tell me she, Terry and Anthony were on their way and mom woke up! I laughed and said, "Sure, you wake up for Anthony!" Actually, Kathy said mom was waking up around 2:00 and it was that time. Mom stayed awake for a little while. We are made her laugh and she said something but we could make it out. Dad came and mom opened her eyes for a little while for dad but fell asleep again.
The respiratory therapist came in and said that mom will be moving to the respiratory care unit. The nurse felt that the move wouldn't be until after the shunt but they had differing opinion. She will be scheduled for the shunt next week. All the staff was inpressed that mom was so alert and talkative after the spinal tap so we are all hopeful that this is what she needs to help with recovery. The respiratory doctor asked me questions about mom and if she was ever weened from the trach and I said yes. Hopefully this move to the respiratory unit will be just the thing she needs to try to ween her form the trach.
