Anthony went to see mom and she was talking a lot. There were times when he couldn’t understand her. Anthony and dad took her for a walk outside and she said it was beautiful out. They sat out front with her. Anthony said he had to leave to go to work and mom said, “You’re a ‘piss ant’” and Anthony said, “Why?” Mom said because he had to go to work. She was talking very low at times and it was hard to understand her. After Anthony left mom went to therapy. She is receiving PT right now.
Dad and Aunt Sophie were with mom when John got there. Dad said she spoke a lot and that she had a great day.
When John came to see mom she say, “Oh Hi!” John did PT on mom’s hand and arms. John got her to put the buttons in the container. She didn’t want to put them in the slot so John took the cap off and let her just put the buttons in the container. John said she spoke a lot. She did a lot of repeating of what he said. He also did the rings and pegs and she didn’t match the colors but she put them on the peg. Then she started to pull the pegs off the stand. John talked to her about our trip upstate but mom kept repeating what he was saying. She also said things that he couldn’t understand.
John read the all about me book and mom started to read along. John asked if she could read it and she said, “Of course.”
John watched the Yankee game with mom and she was laughing when Jeter got up to bat and John said, “Remember when Anthony use to tease Jean and say – Derek Jeter is a cheater and his feet smell like Velveta!” Mom cracked up!
Mom kept pointing at the pictures on the wall so John labeled the people. The young male nurse came in and teased mom that she was watching the Yankees and not the Mets. John asked if he would put the Mets on later when he leaves. He said sure.
John took out her hearing aids and mom asked what he was doing. Mom didn’t want have her mitts put on. John told her that it was very important for her to have her mitts on. He explained he had to put her to bed. He shut the lights and set the timer on the TV and left. John said it was one of the best visits ever.
