Mom Update, August 6, 2011, Saturday

Lenny began the day with mom this morning. He woke her for breakfast and asked if she slept well and mom said, "I slept well until you woke me!" He told her that it was breakfast time and mom inquired about where breakfast was if it was breakfast time. Mom told Lenny she had to go to the bathroom and he told her he'd get an aide to get the bed pan for her but mom insisted she was going to get up and walk to the bathroom. Lenny told her she needs to stay in bed and take care of herself so she doesn't get hurt. Mom asked Lenny who told him to say that and he asked her who she thought, mom said, "Your mother." He set her up for breakfast and put her glasses on and hearing aids in. Mom had scrambled eggs and oatmeal and juice and coffee with vanilla milk. They laughed and talked and had a nice time together.

Anthony and Con came next and spent the day with mom. When I saw mom later in the day, she said that her roommate kept her up last night a lot and that she didn't get a good sleep because of it... but she said, "But she can't help it."

Today was Dad's family's annual reunion. We had a great time but I missed mom. I laughed a lot but it was hard to be there without mom...especially when it was time to go home. Midday, Donna, Stevie, Aunt Peggy, JoAnn, Connie, Angelo and Madeline all came to see mom. I put her make up on before they came up (mom had asked dad last night for her make up and told him she needed to shower in the morning for her company). Mom looked great and was so happy to see them all. She kept staring at Stevie and commented that she hadn't seen him and Donna in such a long time. She teased JoAnn and even yelled at her once in the typical fashion she used to (she's baaackkkkk!!!). At one point, her lunch came and I asked her if she wanted to eat it now or wait and she said she would eat it after everyone left and then she joked with us all and turned to everyone and said, "So don't stay too long!!" and laughed. Some of what she asked Stevie was sensible and some was confusing (she asked if he was still married---but it didn't seem like that was what she wanted to say). She joked with us all and asked some logical, sensible questions. When Madeline and Angelo came, she joked with Angelo alot---he sang the song he wrote for her and mom sang with him!! Then he sang the METS theme song and she smiled. Madeline and Aunt Peggy sat with mom while she ate lunch after we all left. Madeline said mom asked some sensible questions and talked to her. It was a great visit.

Dad went back to be with mom and to tuck her into bed tonight. He missed her. We all did.

I love you and miss you." Philippians 4:1
