Hi,
I started the day with mom. She was out like a light (no really? since she was up at the hospital until midnight). Anyway, I let her sleep. We were told that she needed to rest because of the cerebral angioplast. When she did finally wake up we talked. She didn't want the TV on. At one point I got up and walked away from her and she said, "pull your shirt down in back!" It was something mom always said. I laughed! (Sheeeeeees baaaaaaack)
John came by next. We were tag teaming, no one leave until the next person shows up. Especially after last night. John played cards with mom. A friend of mine form work (a speech therapist) gave me a book with cognitive tasks using a deck of cards. John played with mom. They watched the Yankee game and the cooking channel. John flipped back and forth. They talked about baseball and had a nice visit.
Terry came next. She brought two movies and her laptop. She brought Abbot and Costello - Time of their life and the movie Where Angels go Trouble Follows. Mom really liked the movies. She talked about them when I came in the night time.
I was next. I came back to put mom to bed. Mom was great until Terry left and then she was the most agitated I have ever seen. She was taking off the mitts in a flash. I almost had to lay across her to keep her from touching the feeding tube again. Kathy and Dad called and I told them how upset she was. We all decided mom may need something to calm her down. I asked to see the nurse and then the Dr. came in and we spoke. He agreed that she needed something to calm her down. The nurse came in to give her a shot and I cried. I felt terrible giving her something to calm down. Mom was fine with the shot and asked what is this for? The nurse said it was for agitation. Mom said OK.
I stayed with her until she started to calm down and then left.
Peace and Love,
Claudia
