Mom’s update, Friday October 14, 2011

Jean started the day with mom. He had a great time with her. She was in a playful mood! She was happy to see Jean. He put in her hearing aids. She was already sitting up eating breakfast. Mom started to say to Jean, “Where’s my daddy?” and Jean was confused. He told her he never met her daddy. Mom repeated it again and said, “Where’s my daddy?” and Jean told her again he never met him (he was avoiding saying, you dad is not here – he is dead). Mom then said, “No! My sugar daddy!” and Jean cracked up! A few minutes later the phone rang and mom asked who it was and Jean said, “Poppy.” Mom took the phone and then said to Jean, “It’s my sugar daddy!” She’s a riot! Jean said they had a great time together. He also did some math with her. At one point, she didn’t like what Jean was telling her and she told him to shut up! Jean said that the Sarita lift broke and they had to call in the PT to have him show them how to transfer from the wheel chair to the toilet. This is a good thing, because now while it is broken they have to get her to practice transferring from the chair to the walker to the toilet.

Anthony and dad came to work with mom. Mom still had a difficult time standing. Dad stayed with mom and put her to bed.
