Mom Update, October 16, 2011, Sunday

Mom’s update, Sunday, October 16, 2011

John and I started the day with mom. I wore a mask just to be safe. I still don’t have a voice. I missed her sooooo much, not being able to see her last week. She was up and we fixed her in the bed and then raised the bed to get her ready to eat breakfast. I put her hearing aids in. She had a cheese omelet and salsa. She ate it all up. I fixed her oatmeal with applesauce and fiber one. She ate the whole bowl. I filled her pitcher and her cup with ice water. She loves ice water. I also brought her a decaf hazelnut coffee from Dunkin Donuts. She drank a half of a cup of coffee.

The head of therapy came in to talk to the woman in the next bed. He had to say hello to mom! John and I talked to him for a while. I asked if she could get therapy on a Saturday and he said he would try to put her on the rotation for every other Saturday to start. They are getting new staff next week. John and I worked with mom doing a calendar worksheet and a math worksheet. She did great. She was in a good mood and made a lot of jokes.

Anthony Con and the kids came and brought mom a pumpkin spice coffee. . They went outside just as they got outside, Dad came. They went for a walk around the perimeter. They talked and laughed. Dad made a pork roast. And she ate the whole thing and then for lunch the facility gave her PBJ, brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. She had the PBJ. Weird combo. She was in a great mood laughing. Dad went to Dunkin Donuts to get some lunch and then when he came back Anth and Coon and the kids left.

Dad stayed with mom. They watched movies and held hands. Mom misses him so much when he leaves. Dad has told me that he is working on time with mom and will take out the foam clock we have and help her to understand time. He bought her a digital clock with large numbers but she wants to learn the other way (Analog).

Dad kissed mom goodnight and left.

Peace and be well,

~Claud
