Mom’s Update Thursday, October 6, 2011
I started the day with mom today. She was sleeping when I arrived. I started to set up the room and open the blinds. I straightened up and the CNA’s came in to wake her and help me sit her up in the bed. I was happy I didn’t have to do by myself. I welcomed the help. Mom was not happy to be woken up. She sat up and I gave her breakfast. She had hard boiled eggs, fiber one and apple sauce. I let her peel the eggs by herself. After breakfast, I set up her tray with activities for her to do, the phone, phone numbers and the remote.
Dad came next and stayed with mom until she went to therapy. He was there when mom came back from therapy. Mom hasn’t asked, “Where’s Anthony?” This is a good thing. I don’t know when he will be able to come see her. MOM HAD HER FEEDING TUBE REMOVED TODAY!!! Yahoo! One step closer to coming home! She also had the heparin discontinued.
I came back in the evening. I brought mom steamed chicken chow mein with brown rice. Mom loved it. We ate dinner together. Mom was placed in bed and we watched TV. I kissed her goodnight and said a prayer and left.
Peace and be well,
~Claud
